Ikat fabric is a very popular art these days, almost everything from clothing to home furnishings. It is an ancient art form that shows the traditional textiles from countries as widespread as in Argentina, Guatemala, Spain, Japan, India and Thaimaa.Sana "Ikat" is derived from "Mengikat Malay word meaning" to bind "or" bind'-appropriate name for this weaving technique which depends on the strongly resist dyeing.



In ikat the warp or the weft or both are colored with high accuracy tissue to produce a desired pattern the finished fabric. When the fabric "warp" is a series of lengthwise yarns held tension frame or loom. "Frame" is the thread that pulled the warp yarns to create kangas.Weaver or designer to first draw a box design on paper and the final design is transferred to the warp and weft.
